Pombal do Vesuvio - Symington

The outcome of the 2019 vintage surpassed all expectations. Concentrated, deep red colour. Exceptional freshness on the nose and palate, belying the year’s hot, dry conditions. Floral aromas of roses and rockrose with a hint of vanilla in the background witnessing well-integrated oak. Very expressive on the palate with succulent black plum and wild berry flavours. Well-structured with concentration and elegance in perfect harmony. Polished tannins underpin the framework of this very ‘gastronomic’ wine.

The wine comes from an Alentejo estate acquired by the Douro's Symington family in 2017. It is a powerfully structured wine. The tannins and the rich black fruits are laced with refreshing acidity, a sign of the estate's 1,500-foot altitude.

Exquisite floral bouquet with a scent of roses rising from the glass as well as exceptionally fresh and pure red fruit notes. There is also a lovely fragrance of Mediterranean vegetation, which is often present in the wines from Vesuvio. The wine is pure seduction on the palate with expressive yet wonderfully rounded fruit — the understated schist tannins underpinning the beautifully crafted structure. Elegant and polished, a remarkable Vesuvio, reminiscent of its debut in 2007.
