Roserock is the newest chapter of the Drouhin story, which started in Burgundy, in 1880, with the founding of Maison Joseph Drouhin, and now spans five generations. In 1987, the family established Domaine Drouhin Oregon in the Dundee Hills, and in 2013 purchased Roserock. Today, the Drouhin Family’s belief in Oregon as a world-class growing region is even greater than it was when they first made the leap more than 33 years ago.
This Roserock Pinot Noir is a cuvée selection from the estate’s 35 blocks, which are handpicked, sorted and individually fermented. While Pinot Noirs from the Eola-Amity Hills are typically known for their structure and power, Véronique Drouhin emphasizes Roserock’s elegant and refined qualities, making for a delicious and age worthy cuvée.
This blend of the finest barrels of Roserock Pinot Noir is named for the fragrant “Zéphirine Drouhin” variety of thornless climbing rose, introduced in 1868. Fittingly, the dark-ruby Zéphirine Pinot Noir has an intoxicating perfume of roses, violets, strawberries, and cacao. The complexity and finesse of this lyrical wine will reward cellar age, although it drinks deliciously upon release.
